The SEC has approved a rule that calls for equity index annuities to be regulated as securities.
The SEC has approved a rule that calls for equity index annuities to be regulated as securities. Approved in December by a 4-1 vote, the new rule establishes standards for determining when such annuities are not considered annuity contracts under securities laws.
