The Retirement Income Industry Association will award advertising groups and academics in the industry at its annual meeting and awards dinner Sept. 17 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Mass.
The awards will be given to researchers and institutions that provide the most helpful contributions to financial advisers as the industry shifts its focus from accumulating assets to the retirement income distribution phase.
“There are clients who need advice right now, and the market won’t wait for the industry to catch up,” said Francois Gadenne, founding chairman of the Boston-based RIIA.
He said he hopes that the awards will nudge the retirement income industry into creating the appropriate products and software methodologies for advisers with clients in need of retirement income.
The awards will be given in four categories: practical research, advertising, defined contribution communications and retail communications. Leaders in the financial services media will head a selection committee in each group.
Suzanne Siracuse, publisher of InvestmentNews, will head the retail-communications awards committee. Covering two categories, print and new media, the group will consider brochures, original research, CD-ROMs, videos and other media for advisers who are preparing their clients to focus on turning saved assets into a stream of income.
All submissions must have been produced and distributed between July 2006 and July 2007. The InvestmentNews editorial team and an advisory board will review the submissions.
Three finalists from each category will be notified by August.
To enter, download a nomination form at investmentnews.com/ riiaaward and send it, with all supporting materials, to InvestmentNews’ research associate, Elsa Williams, at 711 Third Ave., New York, NY 10017. Please direct all submission inquiries to her at (212) 210-0184 or via e-mail at [email protected].
All submissions must be received by July 20.
