Schwab releases more details about new advisory tech platform
Among other things, Project C gets an official name and its own website
The Charles Schwab Corp. today announced some details on the integrated technology platform it has in development, previously referred to as Project C.
Officially named Schwab Intelligent Integration, the platform one day will address one of independent advisers’ chief complaints — applications that don’t talk to one another. Names for components of the project were also provided.
“Most advisers have at least four or five different technology solutions in their office, often requiring them to re-enter client data into several applications and to access multiple systems in order to answer a client’s question,” Neesha Hathi, vice president of technology solutions for Charles Schwab Advisor Services said in a statement.
“We believe that there are better ways for advisers and their staff to spend their time, and we want to help them get that time back,” she added.
Schwab is asking advisers to help select which third-party providers will be among those chosen for the platform.
To foster this collaboration, a new website has been created where advisers can cast their vote for their favored application providers. The site also provides updates on the development process for the new platform, frequently asked questions and answers related to the platform, and a link to a recent Schwab webcast during which Project C was first announced.
SII will offer customers a range of software choices, from packaged solutions to those offering high levels of customization. One noteworthy package: a modular offering called Schwab OpenView Gateway, which allows advisers to integrate with leading third-party and Schwab technologies across several categories. Those categories include CRM, portfolio management, financial planning and document management.
A turnkey solution will be offered as well, called Schwab OneView Office. OneView Office combines a pre-packaged CRM application with the Schwab Advisor Services custody platform and portfolio management.
Over 6,000 advisory firms rely on the custodial, operational and trading technology from Schwab.
