Regulators have proposed a rule affecting the registration of municipal advisers. A temporary SEC rule was put in place last September; the proposed rule would replace it. Basically, municipal advisers, who provide advice to state and local governments, would have to submit more-detailed information than is currently required and would have to certify that they had met certain regulatory obligations.
