The SEC recently proposed a rule affecting the registration of municipal advisers. A temporary SEC rule was put in place last September; the proposed rule would replace it. Municipal advisers providing advice to state and local governments would have to submit more detailed information than is currently required and would have to certify that they had met certain regulatory obligations.
