SEC proposes easing accounting rules on foreign firms

The SEC is seeking comment on a proposal to relax accounting regulations for foreign firms that trade on U.S. exchanges.

The SEC is seeking comment on a proposal to relax accounting regulations for foreign firms that trade on U.S. exchanges. Currently, such issuers are required to reconcile their financial statements with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles. The SEC is proposing to allow them to file their reports using international financial reporting standards.
