The SEC is seeking comment on a rule that would require U.S. exchanges to create a consolidated audit trail system for all securities. The agency says that such a system would allow regulators to track information related to trading orders received and executed across all markets and would help regulators more easily analyze suspicious trading behavior and unusual market events.
