Shareholders will get a bigger say in executive pay under rule amendments approved last week by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Among the provisions: Public companies will be required to give shareholders an advisory vote on executive compensation, the desired frequency of those votes and so-called golden parachutes in merger transactions.
