American International Group’s proposed acquisition of SunAmerica helped boost the stock prices of other variable annuity producers and life insurers. Minneapolis-based Reliastar, mentioned as a possible takeover candidate, gained 5% the day of the announcement, and five other insurance companies also joined SunAmerica on the winners list.
