Power play: Charles Schwab has stepped out of the spotlight in his new role as chairman of Charles Schwab Corp., but his daughter is emerging as a force to be reckoned with.

Her modest title of vice president of consumer education at Charles Schwab & Co. is another way of saying that she is overseeing Schwab’s efforts to diversify its clientele.

Based in Atlanta, Ms. Pomerantz believes that the predominance of male investors is due to lingering fears among women that they aren’t suited to make financial decisions.

She believes that education may be the best cure, and she plans to roll out seminars at 400 branches.

“We’re playing some catch-up,” she says.

Bottom line: She is driving the efforts by her firm to win over female investors, who thus far have largely eluded it.
