Schapiro shouldn’t be SEC chairman

No matter how you interpret the facts, the financial crisis happened while Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary Schapiro was supposed to be regulating the broker-dealers as chief executive of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc.

Regarding the OpINion Online column that ran Dec. 24, I suggest that "armchair advisers" (journalists, academicians and the like) who casually criticize Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, et al., aren't doing them — or their readers — justice.

Advice on computing deductions for the AMT

Since more and more individuals, and especially high-net-worth investors, incur the alternative minimum tax each year, I would think you should mention that miscellaneous itemized deductions aren't deductible in computing it.
