ATS Advanced Trustee Strategies, a San Diego, California, firm managing $400 million and specializing in advanced estate planning, has changed its broker-dealer affiliation to Avantax from FSC Securities.

Sandeep Varma, principal and founder of ATS, said Avantax’s network of accountants and accounting firms, as well as its tax focus, complements his business.

Avantax said in a press release Monday that Varma wants to further grow his firm by working with Avantax’s network of CPAs and accounting firms — which can be referral sources for Avantax Financial Professionals — and by growing geographically, potentially opening an office on the East Coast.
