Growing up, Stephanie Tsang knew from an early age she wanted to work in finance and help people. Part of this comes from dealing with her own family struggles.

“My mom and dad were not overly great with finances, so we grew up seeing the ups and downs of having money and then being stressed in certain situations,” the partner at Arizona-based North Star Resource Group admits. It’s no surprise that led her to become a financial advisor.

Tsang highlights one of the most rewarding things about working in the financial advisory space is being able to watch clients retire. The same ones she worked with when she started in the industry.

“It’s [also] mentoring the younger advisors and seeing them grow as advisors, compared to where we got started,” she said. “If you think about hardships within a practice, it’s getting yourself out there and the marketing aspect. I think those are the ups and downs [for them].”

Her passion to help others and educating clients on financial planning has her being recognized as an InvestmentNews Awards 2024 Excellence Awardee, with the winners announced on June 20 at 583 Park Avenue, New York City in a glitzy, red carpet ceremony. Click here to register to attend.

Moving forward, Tsang says she’s focused on maintaining the balance between leadership and her own practice.

“It's still a work in progress,” Tsang said.
