Allstate hires head of life-and-annuity unit

Allstate Corp. has named Matthew Winter has president and chief executive of Allstate Financial, the parent company's life-and- annuities arm. Mr. Winter, who was a vice chairman at American International Group Inc., begins in the new position with Allstate on Oct. 26. He will replace George Ruebenson, who was named interim chief executive of Allstate Financial in December. Mr. Ruebenson will remain president of Allstate Protection, the company's property/casualty division.
