A former representative of Aegis Capital in Morgantown, W.Va., has been barred from the securities industry for failing to appear at a Finra hearing looking into his municipal bond trades, among other activities. The broker, Kenneth L. Jones, was terminated by Aegis in May while he was "under investigation for failure to disclose outside business activities," according to a letter of acceptance, waiver and consent filed by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. In June, Finra staff sent Mr. Jones a request to appear at an in-person hearing in connection with an investigation of, among other things, the circumstances surrounding his termination from Aegis and certain municipal bond trades he performed while registered with the firm. His failure to appear at the hearing was the reason for the Finra action. (More: Former Morgan Stanley broker barred over claims of unsuitable trading) Mr. Jones began his securities career in 1993 at Edward Jones. He moved to Raymond James in 2004 and Gunn Allen Financial in 2005. He joined Aegis in 2010. [Correction: An earlier version of this story mistakenly listed Mr. Jones' location as Tampa, Fla.]
