Boston-area acquisition creates $4.7 billion RIA

Adviser Investments buys Braver Wealth Management, creating 80-person firm

Adviser Investments of Newton, Mass., has acquired Braver Wealth Management, based in nearby Needham Heights. The deal, which includes Braver's capital management division, creates a $4.7 billion registered investment advisory firm with 80 employees and more than 3,000 clients. The combined firm will retain the Adviser Investments name. Terms of the deal were not announced in the company's press release. Dan Wiener, Adviser Investments' chairman, CEO and co-founder, heads the combined firm, and Jim Lowell remains chief investment officer. Braver president David D'Amico and Andrew Griesinger, its chief investment officer, will oversee investment decisions and strategy. (More: 2017 to be year of independent broker-dealer mergers)
